Took a fairly full car-load of stuff to Goodwill in near blizzard conditions today. It was good to get rid of the stuff and get my little tax deduction receipt. Also mailed Dannye's hat to her. I freak out a little about mailing handmade things so I had $40 of insurance put on it. That would cover yarn and a few hours of work at least, if it got lost. Peace of mind for $1.15 or so.

I put the spray on sealer on the grout in the bathroom. It's stinky but at least an easy task. I also did a bunch of dishes and scrubbed about half of the kitchen floor. The rest of it isn't very dirty and I need to relocate some things before I get around to scrubbing it. Kitchen is looking pretty good.

It's a long weekend and here are my goals for the weekend:

- Get new hangers and get all clothes put away in closet or dressers.
- Take more stuff to Goodwill (dishes, old vacuum)
- Vacuum the remainder of the house.
- Clean the basement
- Knit and/or Spin
- Practice the Rutter Waltz

The concert programme is too long. It's exhausting and really, I don't think anyone can enjoy it for that long. They needed to edit it. It was supposed to be 2:10 but went even longer than that.

Brent's irritated because he wants to practice. I'm irritated because I wanted him to come to the reception.

This is not how christmas should be.

First off, If any of you are interested in a Holiday pops matinee at 2:00 on Friday, let me know. I have 2 tickets. It's at powell hall and you can find more info here. Oh yeah, and I'm playing in the band.

In other news, I just dished out $2400 in taxes. It hurts me in my heart. But at least now I won't freak out last minute because I've forgotten to send it off.

To partially counteract the tax outpouring, I have a check for $150 from playing at brent's church. It's practically free money. How wonderful :) I suppose it might go for some christmas presents but I'm really mostly finished shopping.

I need to wrap a lot of presents. Ugh.

So last night our Compton Heights Concert Band rehearsal was at Francis Howell Central high school in St. Peters. I got the address and tried to googlemap it but it didn't find the address when I tried to get driving directions so I resorted to yahoo maps.

The directions seemed straightforward so I printed them out and headed off. I gave myself about an hour to stop and get fast food and travel the estimated time of 38 minutes. I made it to St. Charles county just fine (yay for page ave extension). Then ended up on 94 just as my directions said.

The next step was to "Bear Right on MO N" (that's highway N...).

There is no highway N to bear right on.

I turned on "Central School Drive" thinking it sounded likely, then found a street called St. Peters - Howell drive and that looked likely too. I turned, and there was a school. Shit...it has playgrounds...it was the elementary. I kept going, hoping the schools are in a row or something. I end up in BFE. I turn right at a gas station because the car in front of me turned. I figure I can take another right somewhere and get back onto 94. I was wrong. I ended up in suburban hell. Roads that go nowhere. Subdivision after subdivision.

Eventually I recognize something--Andy's old subdivision. So at least I kinda knew where I was. I tried calling him to get directions but he was in a rehearsal.

I take the first major street (Willot) and follow it to Jungermann which I remember crossed 94. I called Brent and got directions.

I should have gone straight on Central School Drive and I would have found it just fine.

At least I was nowhere near the last person there.
