I've given up on waiting for [livejournal.com profile] beebers to come over and watch old episodes of Gray's with me. I'm watching them without her. I'll keep them though, so she can come catch up later.

My 5th grade neice went to 6th grade solo competition in Des Moines and got a I. I'm so proud that she did so well being judged as a 6th grader. She gets her comment sheets on Thursday so she'll find out more about what she did well and what she needs to work on.

I mailed my KSSP package yesterday. She should get it this week.

I reworked the chart for the argyle vest I'm making so it won't end up being too long. I don't know what happened to my gauge, but at least I can fix it before it's a big issue.

The argyle knee sock has been started. I'm about 3" in. The irritating thing about making knee socks is that they have to be sooo much longer than normal socks. The coolness should make up for that at least.

1. We know you prefer natural fibers, but which ones do you adore?
On the same note, what yarns make you absolutely cream yourself?
I really like wool, silk, and alpaca and blends thereof. My favorite fiber has to be cashmere, but I usually only get to buy it in blends. Those are lovely too.
2. What other crafty shit do you do? (ie, spin, crotchet, bead, put babies on spikes, etc)
3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)
No allergies, but I hate the smell of cigarette smoke.
4. What yarns do you absolutely hate?
Fun Fur, Acrylics. I also don't like yarns that are wildly varying thick-thin yarns. I can spin yarn like that and choose not to because it's just lazy, so why should I buy it?
5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
I love the smell of oranges and lemons and vanilla. Patchouli is also very nice...mmm..dirt.
7. What do you like to eat? You know you want chocolate!
Why yes, I do want chocolate. How'd you guess? I don't eat things with nuts (well...not that kind of nuts at least) and I detest chocolate covered cherries.
8. What are your pet peeves?
Stupid People, of course. People who don't try to learn from their mistakes and get mad if you tell them they're wrong.
9. What's your favorite thing to knit?
Sweaters, with socks as a close second.
10. What are your favorite colors?
Almost anything vibrant, especially Blues, Greens, Yellows, Purples
11. What new knitting technique do you want to learn?
It's not really a technique, but I want to become more comfortable making my own patterns for things.
12. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Particular brand?
No preferences as to straight or circs. I like both. Crystal Palace is one of my favorite brands.
13. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
Bamboo, birch, sometimes plastic is ok--particularly for tiny sock needles where I keep breaking the bamboo ones.
14. Any crap that you collect obsessively to fill a void in your life?
Mostly yarn and knitting magazines/books. I also collect sheet music for flute and books in latin. I actually use the sheet music, but the latin is for one of those days when I really feel like translating, and those days just never seem to occur.
15. Any books you've been dying to have?
Elizabeth Zimmerman's Knitting without Tears.
16. What is the air-speed velocity of a swallow carrying a coconut?
Uh, let me get my radar gun out.
17. Are there any yarns that you'd like to try but aren't available to you for one reason or another?
I've never come across Cherry Tree Hill or Koigu sock yarns in the stores I've visited. I know I could order them online but I just never have. I usually like to support my local stores so I just buy whatever sock yarn they have instead.

I got the best idea for something for my knitting snark secret pal. I can't wait to put it into action.
