Call me crazy (and i am) but around 5:00 today I decided that it would be a good idea to run the Spirit of St. Louis half marathon. Mind you I havn't run regularly in about a year (damn laziness), but I used to run around 25 miles a week, so I just need to get back to that, plus work on the loooong distances. Tonight I went 2.5 miles. I run really slowly, so some of you would probably *barely* classify it as jogging, but damnit. I'm just not that athletic. So this wouldn't be to break any landspeed records...just to say I finished it. I'd like to run/jog the whole time, but I'm not averse to admitting that I walked some too, so I think that makes it more doable.

I found a plan to follow that seems really reasonable. To get to the point of running for 2+ hours, you go in segments of 9 minutes running 1 minute walking, or 25 minutes running, 5 minutes walking. At the moment, I'm doing 3 minutes running alternated with 3 minutes walking. It's kinda interesting compared to my past running. Since I only have to go for 3 minutes I can go faster. Maybe this is how I'll learn not to be such a tortoise.

I just really hate myself when I get too lazy, and it pisses me off that I can't wear my favorite abercrombie and fitch jeans anymore (yeah, i know i'm not young enough to buy clothes there anymore). A few months of running should help with the jeans. I can still button them at least....if I lay down while zipping, but it's just not a pretty sight.

We'll see where it goes.
