My kitchener needs improving too, but I did a ton of it on the hood of this jacket (instead of seaming) so I got some practice at least. I have to concentrate on it so much to do it, so it's not among my favorite things.
I have in the past knitted or crocheted things that I ended up not liking, so I'm extremely happy this fits well and looks good. Even though there are things I'd change, none of them are going to irritate me so much I won't wear it.
I know you said you had yarn stashed away for a Mariah, so if you do it, be sure to email Jodi, the designer, and get the errata. She said she sent them in to Knitty but they haven't gotten the site updated. I got them in time to use the updated hood shaping and I think it worked really well. I wish I had emailed her before I did the yoke though...I would have known to make it a little longer. Oh well.
