I'm working on putting together a chart of household chore/to do items so we can keep caught up on things. Plus I like to mark things off lists.

In looking online at suggested lists, it seems like most people say to wash their sheets weekly. We have been washing every other week. Do you guys wash/change sheets weekly?

How often do you clean out your refrigerator/freezer too? I am ashamed to admit this probably happens about once a year around here, but I am trying to be a little better there. Every 3 months? Every month? What's the standard?

Also, if you have any sample chore charts, I'd love to see them.

I end up cleaning out the fridge approximately every 4-6 weeks -- whenever I plan a big grocery trip I clean all the other stuff out of there first. The cupboards get a run through during that time too. That way I know what to add to my list.

I'm terrible about changing my sheets and let's just say that it happens more often than you clean out your fridge, but less often than the recommended weekly. I usually do it when I can't stand the cat hair anymore. Gross, right?

Chore charts haven't really helped us as much as trigger activities. Whiteboard full of things we're out of? Time for groceries. Laundry basket in the bedroom full? Time to do laundry. Trash full? Time to bring it out. Too many things stacked on top of the freezer? Time to clean the garage.

But then... my house is always tidy and seldom clean. Ew.

Huh. I thought your house was really clean and lovely.

Thank you. I usually clean before I have company but tidiness and low lighting are a career girl's friend.

I don't have a chore chart, because there's nobody there but me to assign things to. I usually make a list here at the office of things to accomplish on the weekends.

Saturday mornings are for sheet changing, unless I know Pepin is coming that week. Or I don't get to it, in which case I don't sweat it, as I shower at night.

I usually do a light cleaning of the refrigerator once a week, and really throw stuff out every other week.

I wouldn't take the trash out at all, because I hate taking the trash out, if there were any way around it. I usually end up doing it once a week, because I don't actually make that much garbage, and then I go ahead and haul it up to the curb. Joe (the yardman) usually hauls it back up to the house as he's passing by.

I get great satisfaction from marking things off my list. I also have a bizarre fascination with reading the lists of others.

I have an individual list and occasionally I'll leave a note for El Hubbo or Miss M with something I want them to do. Not really a chart.

oh man, there's nothing I love more than marking things off a list. Sometimes I think about making a "job jar" but then realize I'd still want a list to cross off.

Sometimes I put things on my list that I've already done just so I can have the pleasure of crossing them off. I tell myself so it's that I have a complete list and I don't worry at the end of the day that I forgot something, but it's really so I can see something crossed off.

sheets, once a week, but I've always thought I did that abnormally frequently because I like fresh sheets. Fridge, uh, never. Wait, are you talking cleaning, or cleaning out? I probably toss gross stuff once a month or every other month and just wipe spills (like from the sun tea jar) as they happen.

I aim for changing sheets every week, but in reality it's more like every 2-3 weeks. Refrigerator - I throw out old food stuff every couple of weeks, and take out and wash drawers and shelves every 6 months or so (usually I don't do all of them, just the ones that look sticky.)

What I'm really bad about is vacuuming. I REALLY HATE vacuuming. Don't ask me how long our carpet went before we got the Roomba. It's horrifying.
