If girl things scare you away, then

I went out to Sunset Hills to see a new Dr today. She was impressed at how much IUD research I had done and said she had no problems giving me one! They've ordered me a Mirena and will let me know when it comes in so we can schedule insertion for my next period. I called my insurance company and it's all covered as part of the office visit copay.

5 years of no babies (and very possibly no periods) for $15. $30 if you count the copay for the consultation office visit.

cool, but can you not have children because of scarring, or is that just a myth?

That's a myth. The only possible thing that could cause infertility is if you get PID (pelvic inflammatory disease). The risk of PID is slightly higher with an IUD in, but really, as long as you're in a monogamous relationship, the risk of PID is essentially none. You'd have to have a partner with an std somewhere along there to cause that.

With other problems (perforation or expelling), they take the IUD out, so that's not going to cause any problems except you have to go back to another BC method.

hm, thanks.
i've been looking for another option for a while now, and maybe that's the one. my mom had the perforation issue a lot and heavy periods, so that would be a definite reason to take it out. and she had fertility issues later on, too.
