flower day

so i went to home depot in search of petunias and such. i arrived to find the selection of perennials a sad sad sight. i ended up picking up a few cheap flower pots, some potting soil and some more mulch since i was almost out.
then i went to the flower store i keep driving by on watson. something like "colors of spring" but i'm not sure. the people there are really nice. they had much better looking flowers than home depot, so i got a couple trays. a bunch of petunias, some begonias, marigolds, and some other flower i forgot the name of. plus one potted hibiscus. they have such lovely blooms :)
i planted all of them but a few begonias and the one whos name i cant remember. i'm saving the rest of those to fill in around where the tulips are now. i just have to wait for the tulip greens to die out.
oh, i also planted all my gladioli bulbs. i had a ton of them since i planted them first last year and they multiplied. i hope they do well this year. i planted them somewhat later than last year.
i filled in under the rose bushes with some dark mulch. i do not have words express how much better it looks than the white marble rocks that i covered up. now i need more mulch to do underneath the evergreen shrubs on the other side of the front door.
i also want to find some medium sized rocks to make some dividers and borders with. hmmm. so much to do!

Date: 2004-05-10 09:40 pm (UTC)Oh, and hibiscus are my favorite! I had one in New Orleans, but had to leave it there because I didn't have enough room to take it with us. :( It was so nice...it's actually warm enough there to plant the hibiscus and leave it year round. While I missed winter a little, I preferred the fact that it was always nice and colorful.
