I've given up on waiting for [livejournal.com profile] beebers to come over and watch old episodes of Gray's with me. I'm watching them without her. I'll keep them though, so she can come catch up later.

My 5th grade neice went to 6th grade solo competition in Des Moines and got a I. I'm so proud that she did so well being judged as a 6th grader. She gets her comment sheets on Thursday so she'll find out more about what she did well and what she needs to work on.

I mailed my KSSP package yesterday. She should get it this week.

I reworked the chart for the argyle vest I'm making so it won't end up being too long. I don't know what happened to my gauge, but at least I can fix it before it's a big issue.

The argyle knee sock has been started. I'm about 3" in. The irritating thing about making knee socks is that they have to be sooo much longer than normal socks. The coolness should make up for that at least.

Randomness

The house doesn't have any dangerous Radon levels so that's good :)

Only thing left to check is the sewer lines. Need to call someone about that tomorrow.

For your amusement...the biggest, heaviest, funniest hat I've made

I want to make these socks so bad. She doesn't have the pattern up for sale yet though:

Essentially done cleaning the house (Yay!!). It looks really nice. The kitchen's especially sparkly. I hope they don't feel like looking under the beds. I've never done that when viewing a house, but some people are weird. Anyway, I didn't dust much under there. Just shoved the vacuum hose under to pick up the major dust bunnies.

Still need to windex the bar and wash a few dishes down there, but Jan's not coming to photograph things until tomorrow afternoon.

I also finished my sweater. I'll post pictures as soon as I can get brent to take some. I want to take them outside in the sun so the flash doesn't wash things out though, so I don't know when I'll get to do that.

Now to head to brent's and take a ton of stuff to the basement there. Blech.

Home home

Yay, I come home today. I'm very excited at the thoughts that soon I'll have a package coming from [livejournal.com profile] keelyerin. Yay for knitting goodies.

I hope my flight's not delayed too much. I don't have enough yarn to knit for 3 hours like I did last week.

To airport now :)

I just put all the pieces so far together into one big circle on my needles.

Are there any yarn stores in the Minneapolis area I shouldn't miss while I'm here? Ones close to downtown are best since I'll have to either take a bus or a cab.

Thanks :)

I've knitted almost non-stop all weekend. It's been fun. Watched a lot of episodes of "Lost" with Brent while I was working along.

Here's a picture of a sleeve (finished until I attach to the body and complete the shoulder) and the left front (in progress).

Cabling without a cable needle is the best thing ever. This would have taken forever if I hadn't known about that technique.

Ok ok I'm doing it! I need to go find yarn for it soon. Maybe I can do that tonight :)

(don't laugh)

Ok, so I've been thinking about doing the knitting olympics. Essentially you can't start til the Olympics start and you have to finish by the end.

Here's what I'm thinking about making:

Thoughts anyone?

One tricky part about this is that I'll be in Minneapolis for the bulk of it. Maybe that's a good thing--no other distractions besides work.

Finished

I finished the other sock tonight. Yay. I wish the heels were a little less stretchy. Oh well, such that I get for picking a ribbed pattern. I can't wait to wear them out somewhere.

Hmm...what to do with the leftover yarn.

Soon to be 2 socks. Just wanted to put up pictures since it's sunny out and I got some decent light. I loooove this yarn. So pretty!

I just finished a Booga Bag out of Noro Kureyon color 159.

Took a fairly full car-load of stuff to Goodwill in near blizzard conditions today. It was good to get rid of the stuff and get my little tax deduction receipt. Also mailed Dannye's hat to her. I freak out a little about mailing handmade things so I had $40 of insurance put on it. That would cover yarn and a few hours of work at least, if it got lost. Peace of mind for $1.15 or so.

I put the spray on sealer on the grout in the bathroom. It's stinky but at least an easy task. I also did a bunch of dishes and scrubbed about half of the kitchen floor. The rest of it isn't very dirty and I need to relocate some things before I get around to scrubbing it. Kitchen is looking pretty good.

It's a long weekend and here are my goals for the weekend:

- Get new hangers and get all clothes put away in closet or dressers.
- Take more stuff to Goodwill (dishes, old vacuum)
- Vacuum the remainder of the house.
- Clean the basement
- Knit and/or Spin
- Practice the Rutter Waltz

Another hat

I just finished Dannye's hat. She had wanted a fairly plain hat that would match her scarf (red and white). But she expressed interest in cables...

So here's what she got )

I finished grandma's shawl last night. It was TINY when I took it off the needles, but I just blocked it and it's now 50" wide and 24" long. It was supposed to be 54" by 27", but I guess my guage ended up being a little small. I had checked it but not in pattern. Oh well.

Here are some pictures of it as it's blocked. I can't wait til it dries so I can try putting it on :)

Oh yeah...I dyed this yarn too. Yay for blue koolaid.

Yay, I finished the socks for Brent's mom. She has no idea how lucky she is. By my calculations, it was approximately 10,916 stitches per sock.

They're made out of washable wool/nylon blend in a dark brown (as you can see in the pictures) and size 2 dpns.

It was hard to get the pictures to show the pattern. It's called "Almost Argyle" and is a texture-only representation of argyle.

It's one of those days where I find myself so excited about what I'm doing at work that I want to work on it tonight too. But I must knit.
